Starting Fresh With A Blank Page

Page.jpgUnlike the application pages, a blank page allows you to express your full creative potential by giving you a completely free form page to use to build content.

In a blank page you have the ability to add text, images, videos, widgets, links and much more.

Creating a Blank Page

AddPage.jpg

  1. Log into your editing account
  2. Click Edit Site from the four tabs on the top right
  3. By default you are in the Site Manager
  4. Under My Pages click the Add a New Page button
  5. Select Page as the page type, and give it a name
  6. Click Create Page

The Editing Toolbar

Just below the Page Options drop down in the Site Builder are all of the tools you will need in order to add content to your blank page. This Toolbar is broken up into four sections.

  1. Add Content - buttons here are for adding a content box, photos, videos, add ons, or links
  2. Font - you can change the font face, size and color
  3. Paragraph - change the position of a paragraph of text, create bullet lists, or indent a line of text
  4. Misc - add a table, special characters, smileys, and custom HTML code

Adding Content to Your New Page

Toolbar-Add.jpg

Step one is to add a Content Box. A content box is your workspace for adding content (text, images, videos, etc). A content box has a title section and a body. A title should just be a brief description of the content below. Everything else will go in the body of a content box.

Note: The other buttons in this section will be grayed out until you have added or clicked to edit a content box.

When you are editing a content box a small Content Box Options toolbar will appear. This toolbar gives you a few options for editing the properties of the content box, including splitting the content box into narrower work spaces.

Content Box Options

  • Done Editing this content box
  • Move Up
  • Move Down
  • Split Content box into columns
  • Change Column properties
  • Insert Content Box above this one
  • Delete Content Box

Photo

The photo button will allow you to upload and add images to content boxes on your page. Photos should be uploaded as .jpg, .gif, or .png. While .bmp is supported it is not recommended because it is a larger file size and will take time to load on a page.

Tip: If you need to add a lot of images to a page you might want to take a look at the Photo Gallery Application.

You can insert a hyperlink to another web site, an email address, one of your own pages, paragraphs (content boxes), or files. • My Files
  4. Edit the link using the Link Options toolbar that appears over the link when it is selected

Editing Your Text

Toolbar-Text.jpg

Highlight text and select from any of the standard editing options in the Tool box.

Warning: A lot of times when content is copied from Word or another HTML enabled document editor code can be copied with it that causes the edit tools to not respond. Clearing the code by pasting it into notepad will resolve the issue.
Tip: If the formatting you have selected is not being applied try copying the text into notepad and pasting it from notepad back to your Page Editor.

Editing Your Paragraphs

Toolbar-Paragraph.jpg

Using the options in this section of the toolbar you can left align, center, or right align a paragraph of text. Additionally you can create bullet lists or indent a paragraph or line of text.

Tip: In some cases you may be tempted to use the space bar to align your text. Unfortunately, what looks aligned on your computer might look completely different on someone else's computer. Especially if they are using a different display size or default text display size. You should always use the align options in the toolbar to format the location of your text.

Adding Tables, Characters, Smilies, and Custom HTML Code

In the miscellaneous section of the toolbar you can add a table, special characters (such as the copyright symbol, percentages, the GBP symbol and more), custom smiley faces, and custom HTML code.

Note: Remember, even though we allow you to add custom HTML code to your page, if there is an error with the code, we will not be able to fix it for you. You should contact the person/company that provided the code, or remove the code from your page if it is causing problems
