I can't find my site in .... (google, yahoo, search engines, the internet etc)
There are a couple of important things to understand when you are trying to view your website.
- There is a difference between visiting your site by typing your site address in the address bar and searching for your site using popular search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc
- A website will not immediately show up when you search for it unless it has been indexed by the search engine first.
What is the difference between the Address bar and the Search Bar?
The address bar is at the top of the browser window and can be used if you know the exact address of the site you are visiting.
The search is used when you don't know the address of the site you are looking for, or you are searching for multiple sites on a particular topic.
How do I get my website listed in Search Engines?
Websites are not automatically listed in search engines.
There are several methods used to get your website listed in search engines. Getting your site listed also does not guarantee that it will show up on the first page of results!
However, the best place to start is by letting search engines know your new website exists so that they can start indexing your site. Then, you can work on getting good search engine ranking and increase traffic to your website.
In the Promotion section of your webs.com account you can find links to submit your site to Google, Bing and Yahoo along with some other helpful tips on driving traffic to your site.
TIP: In the meantime you can give visitors the exact site address to access your website. Make sure they enter your website's address in the address bar of their browser, and not in a search.
